DIY culture and glitch art
In the context of glitch art we can modify the Wikipedia definition of DIY (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_it_yourself) to “glitch art is the process of building or creating (coding, generative art, ai), modifying (hex editing, databending, datamoshing) and re-repairing (circuit-bending, device modification misuse) without the direct aid of professionals (trained artists, curators, galleries, musicians, record labels, etc.) or certified experts”. Particularly important to this definition in relation to the glitch art community is the idea of empowerment, community seeking, uniqueness. The event will be a discussion with references to our own work and communities and this year’s Fubar theme of DIY.
