andrei jay [US] – you’ve STOLEn my (he)ART

• 2022-10-02 SUN • 18:00-18:45 UTC+02 • TALK • ONLINE

You’ve STOLEn my (he)ART is a hybrid format talk with thoughts on copyrights, licenses, appropriation, patents, and ownership of ideas.

Glitch art and New Media art, in general, have two long-standing traditions: first is, of course, taking already created media and altering them in some way, and second is the ongoing arguments concerning theft, appropriation, and credit that accompany these remixes.

In this talk, I would like to examine as many sides of this argument as possible; with the goal not of providing solid answers to who is right or wrong but instead of pointing out that there might actually be some more productive questions we can ask to help inform our behavior that doesn’t hinge on the twin concepts of Deserving and Earning.

The event is available @ live.fubar.space
