DIY Foton synth

• 2023-10-10 TUE + 2023-10-11 WED • 2-6pm CEST (UTC/GMT+2) • workshop MaMa (Preradovićeva 18, ZAGREB)

Photon is an experimental sound synthesizer based on a hacked NAND logic gate (4093 – Quad 2-Input NAND Schmitt Trigger) powered by light. Photon uses a solar panel as a power source, and by changing various light sources and their intensities, it is possible to modulate the sound of this synthesizer. A synthesizer made in this way can be played with sunlight, fire, light bulbs, sprinklers, hand lamps and all other light sources, and as such offers the possibility of intuitive playing, improvisation and creating textures from light crackling to noise. At the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to make their own sound synthesizer that they take home after the workshop. At the end of the workshop, participants will perform a short impro noise jam (for Fubar).

Duration of the workshop: 2 days – 4 hours each
