Fubar ARCHIVE exhibition @ Gallery NOVO

• 2026-09-03 - 2026-09-10 • talk 8pm, opening 9pm • group exhibition Gallery Novo

Since its founding in 2015 throughout all ten editions (most recently in 2024), the Fubar (/ˈfuːbar/) festival has brought together hundreds of productions and more than a thousand artists and authors working in the field of glitch art. In 2025, Fubar evolved into a hybrid community platform, in 2026 it continues as the first biennial dedicated to variable glitch art. Throughout this process, inspired by the numerous contributions and sustained support of glitch art practitioners, Fubar has formed an interactive data and multimedia archive containing more than 1,500 artworks, offering an opportunity to explore an entire decade of experimental digital art from around the world. This open archive also enables the creation of curatorial collections for research and/or exhibition purposes, while opening up possibilities for the sustainable preservation of digital art through open protocols and free software.

At gallery Novo, we present the first variable exhibition installation based on the Fubar Archive, which programmatically and pseudo-randomly displays visual artworks from the Fubar Archive – digital images and videos that use error as an inspiration, motif, or method. Glitch art is an interdisciplinary way of looking at the world that allows a deeper examination of contemporary phenomena such as international networks, electronic circuits, digital compression, and the ways in which we shape them. An error within an artwork can reveal the internal structure of a digital file, its ecosystem and ethics, and its forms of distribution. Our engagement brings forward the final component of glitch art: an understanding of today’s multimedia landscape as a commons vulnerable to censorship, manipulation, and instrumentalization.

Join us for an exhibition of 10 years of international glitch art from the vast Fubar Archive on Thursday, 3 September, from 9 PM, at gallery Novo, Laginjina 7, Pula.

The opening will be preceded by a presentation of the open Fubar Archive web platform at 8 PM, moderated by curator Irena Borić.
On Saturday and Sunday, 5 and 6 September, free curatorial guided tours can be booked via [email protected]. (The booking must be made at least a day in advance.)

The exhibition remains open until 10 September 2026 and can be visited during gallery Novo’s opening hours:
Monday – Wednesday: 10 AM – 2 PM
Thursday – Friday: 6 PM – 9 PM
Admission is free.

Fubar Artists

A list of all artists represented in the decade-long Fubar Archive can be found at fubar.space/artists.
Due to the variable nature of the networked installation, which uses parametric and scripted processes to select works for display, the exact list of artists represented in the exhibition will be made available at fubar.space.

Production Credits

Format C is a non-profit arts organization that, through open-ended transdisciplinary collaborative productions, inclusive open calls, open-access educational programs, and cultural events – initiates, creates, supports, and documents critical approaches to ethical production within the new paradigm of digital arts. We have founded and developed projects including Fubar, a glitch art program, and Pivilion, an operating system for uncensored networked art. The organization is led by multimedia artist Dina Gligo and interdisciplinary artist Vedran Gligo, who are also the creators of the Fubar Archive and curators of its variable exhibition installation.
More about the organization at formatc.hr and social media: @formatc_artorg.

Fubar (founded in 2015) is a program of Format C Arts Organization, co-funded by the Kultura Nova Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, and the City of Zagreb. The program is developed in collaboration with numerous associations, collectives, artists, and partners from the cultural and media sectors. The first Fubar Biennial, taking place in 2026, focuses thematically on collectivism: collaborative modes of creation, knowledge production, and the shaping of shared spaces in a time of social and technological instability.
